Learning Through Play
Little Play Town is a role play centre in Heywood, Rochdale which has been carefully designed over two floors for children to enjoy. All themed areas have been reduced in size to allow the children to play at their level and see the world through adult eyes. Learning through play, the children will develop new skills and grow in confidence through the role play activities.
Why Roleplay?
Roleplay is a fun way for children to learn about themselves and their environment while learning important skills to enable them to develop physically, emotionally and through communication.
When young children pretend to be recognisable workers such as a police officer, nurse, teacher or builder, they are engaging in creative play that encourages empathy and develops their confidence and problem-solving skills. Role play is a hugely beneficial part of learning for their early years.
At Little Play Town Heywood, children have the opportunity to learn about their real-life environment, experiment, explore and act out roles in a safe, engaging and fun way.
DID YOU KNOW???
Heywood is also known as ‘Monkey Town’. This name originated from 1850 when the local accent was heard as saying ‘ape bridge’ instead of ‘heap bridge’ and monkey town was born.
See if your little ones can find all the Heywood monkeys in our little play town.
